UK Jets Intercept a Russian Aircraft

Two United Kingdom fighter jets intercepted a mysterious Russian aircraft flying over international airspace in the UK this week. The Russian aircraft was escorted out of the British area of interest by the RAF and sent back to where it came. NATO has started to realize that this kind of Russian activity is getting more and more commonplace, and could lead to more serious matters if not dealt with. Reports say that the aircraft was a Tu-95 Russian bombing plane, and although it was capable of holding nuclear weapons, the plane did not pose a threat by any means. Russia has no comments on the matter, and won't communicate.

What do you think the Russians are trying to accomplish?

why would Russia send a bombing plane, just to be sent back?

  • Good job!

  • Probably to be able to see how the UK would react to the plane

  • I doubt the Russians sent a bombing plan simply to see what would happen. One bombing plane against the royal air force doesn't exactly pose a threat.

  • I'm not sure what Russia is trying to accomplish but whatever it is it sounds really dangerous. Maybe they could be just trying to see how far they can fly a bombing jet before anyone realizes. It definitely sounds like a Russian kind of thing though they do weird stuff like this all the time.

  • no i don't think the Russian were trying to accomplish anything. I think they sent the plane probably to test what would happen.

  • I think the Russians just want to intimidate the UK? I honestly have no idea.
I'm also not sure why they would send that sort of plane.... Maybe just to fly it somewhere? Maybe to frighten citizens of the UK? It's hard to be sure, especially if the Russians don't want to talk about it.

  • Why would Russia want to start something with the United Kingdom? The second a shot is fired, every other country in NATO and the United Nations will want war, and that would end badly for Russia.

  • They are probably trying to intimidate people and scare them. If they repeatedly keep sending bombing planes they are more than likely planning to do something that could end badly.

  • With Russia not wanting to communicate, I think that they are planning something bad. I think that Russia is trying to start something with countries. If it wasn't meant to harm they would of had a reasoning to why they were doing it.

  • I bet Russia is trying to start something. Why would a bombing plane be driving way out of the country to not do anything.
