Stunt plane crashes during air show!

Last Saturday afternoon, a pilot, Greg Connell, died of a plane accident during an air show at the Good Neighbor Day Open House Airshow at DeKalb Peachtree Airport. The two planes flew past each other low to the ground. Then, the biplane ascended for a loop, but when he came back down, he didn't stop and hit the ground. Firetrucks responded quickly and put out the fire. No spectators were injured. The crash was the 1st one in the 3 decades of the annual air show.

Questions:

1. How would you react to a plane crash like this one? Why?

2. Would you ever want to become a stunt pilot? Why or why not?

My thoughts - I would be in terror to the reaction of this plane crash because someone just died. I would be in shock too from what I just saw happen. I haven't thought about being a stunt pilot, but it sounds pretty cool. I don't know if it would be for me, though.

  • I would be worried there was safety concern and make sure to take care of it. I would never want to be a stunt pilot or anything to do with stunts because there are so many accidents that happen and that type of career doesn't interest me.

  • I would freak out and problem not know what to do. Yes I have just for the thrills.

  • I would be shocked. I would do whatever I could to help those in need. No I would never become a stunt pilot because it is to dangerous.

  • I think being a pilot would be fun, but I don't think I would want to be a stunt pilot. I wouldn't want to risk my life that much. I also think these pilots know what they're getting in to and it isn't crazy to hear of plane crashes, especially stunt plane crashes.

  • I would be so scared. I've heard of stunt planes crashing during shows like this before and I think it would be terrible to watch this happen.

  • I think it would be crazy to see that happen and I would feel sad for that pilots family. No because there is chances like that were you could be killed. There could also be an engine malfunction and other things that could happen where you could be in trouble.

  • I would be surprised and scared because these pilots are supposed to be trained professionals to prevent this from happening. This is a very sad event. I would never want to be a pilot because of things like this.

  • It would be weird to see a plane crash especially at something so routine. It is a tragic thing that has happened but I'm glad not more people got hurt because it is terrible that the pilot died, but the situation could have gotten way worse. I would like to be a pilot so I could see the worlds and fly all the time but being a stunt pilot just sounds scary.

    • That is true because it usually doesn't happen very often. It is very tragic and I am glad no more people got hurt. I would not want to be a stunt pilot because there is a lot of stress and fear of messing up I would assume.

  • I would be shocked and afraid for the pilot because any death is bad no matter how it happened. If thirty years has gone by without an accident that is great but there is always that chance that something could go wrong. I think being a pilot would be cool but I wouldn't want to be a stunt pilot because that is way to dangerous.
