How long have uniforms been required in schools? Well in fact, school uniforms have been seen in schools since 1222. They started in a school in England, but their school uniforms weren’t like modern uniforms, they had to wear a robe-type outfit called a cappa-clausa. After this, school uniforms started to become more popular throughout private schools, but what about public schools? School uniforms should not be required in public schools because it takes away the students' individuality, and creativity.
I can understand the argument for why we should have school uniforms, but the monotony may be boring to the students’ minds. It’s already hard enough to stay focused in some classes, let alone if you were wearing something that you found uncomfortable. The diversity in clothing choices of the students’ gives character. People may argue that students are pressured to fit in with name brand clothing, and trendy styles. This may be true in some cases, but that’s why the staff influence the students’ to think for themselves and to express them for who they truly are.
School uniforms have been around for a very long time. Some may say that we should keep them around, as some sort of tradition. The world evolves and people change. In my personal opinion, this is a movement that should be stopped. School uniforms remove the students’ originality and distinction.
Do you think school uniforms should be required? Why?
If they were required, what would your biggest complaint be?
Why do you like being able to choose your own outfits?

Personally, I think school uniforms should not be required. The first and most obvious reason would be for people to express themselves. Although i understand people getting made fun of for not wearing on-brand clothing and such. Theres a positive side to both opinions but personally I like not having uniforms.
I agree with you, there are valid points for both sides of the argument. I think being able to express yourself is a huge deal and it builds character. I think if we all had to wear the same thing everyday for our entire childhood there wouldn't necessarily be anything that differentiates us from others.
I think that school uniforms are a good idea in some cases, but not in others. Having a school uniform would help rid kids of making fun of other kids for not having the best clothes or shoes. The downside of a uniform would be kids losing the ability to express themselves through the clothes that they decide to wear.
I agree with you, when students are forced to wear the same thing other people can't necessrily judge them, for whatever reason the students do it for. I also agree with you, on how it would take away the students ability to express themselves. I think thats a huge part of growing up, and learning who you are.
I think school uniforms should not be required because they are always uncomfortable. It may get rid of dress code problems and feeling of unequality but it takes away the ability for students to express themselves as they want.
I agree with you, when schools enforce school uniforms they just take into account the uniforms themselves and don't care about how it would make the students feel. They do it keeping in mind other problems it will solve but not the ones that it might create.
I do not think that they should be required. It takes the diversity away from the schools. I like being able to wear whatever I want to school. I don't think that school uniforms should be required because they also seem more uncomfortable than regular clothes.
I agree with you on every aspect. I think the students can express themselves and genuinly show their school pride being able to wear what they want to wear.
I dont think that school uniforms shoul be required because some kids might not have enough money to buy expensive uniforms or get the right ones and could possible be made fun of. Some uniforms could also fit different on everyone and could cause bullying.
I agree with you, looking at the financial part of this is very controversial, many students who can't afford good or clean clothes, have a good chance they won't be able to afford the school uniforms or keep these clean either. So it may bring down the bullying percent a little bit, but I personally don't think enough.
