Every week students are going to school almost 40 hours every week (8 hours, 5 days a week). Students also start their day very early in the morning When students are in school for longer they are able to learn more and they would have more time to get their homework done, but then teachers, some days have lessons that can take the whole 43 mins to give the lesson and leave no time to get homework done. Some students struggle to balance their life outside of school and school-work. Some students tend to put sports and their lifestyle and “not” have time to do their homework. So shorter days for students would give them more time to balance school and their life outside of school.
On the other hand, shortening school days would force schools to extend the days students are in school. In Iowa a student is required to be in school for atleast 1,080 hours every school year. Shortening days will only benefit the students that have sports and jobs after school and not those who have nothing. Shortening days for students affects all students not just high school and middle school students but kids in Primary and Intermediate too. Shortening these days can put many families in financial stress and really be draining for everyone in that family and parents will have a tough time finding someone to transport and care for their young child.
I get that school takes up a lot of time out of everyones day but students should have responsibility to get their homework done and balance their life outside of school. I believe that school should stay the same duration of hours that it is now. As i stated earlier shortening school effects all students and puts families into financial stress and shortening school is very selfish for those struggling as is with school being 8 hours.

Yes i think school days should be shortened because some of us kids have after school jobs that we don't have enought quite time to get ready. I think it would be awesome if our school shortned our day more.
I don't agree, school days would make summer break almost a month shorter than what it is now. students really enjoy that time to get away from school even if its only a couple months long
It would be nice if the school days were to be shortened, but I don't think that its really needed. I mean as nice as it would be, there has to be plenty of time to learn in a day and 3:00 is a nice balance. I do wish that school started later though because sometimes it's hard for people to wake up at 6 in the morning.
I agree, having school later would really help those who have long ways to drive in the early morning
I think that in a perfect world school days should be shorter, but in this world where everyone learns at different paces it should probably remain the same. I personally would benefit from shorter days because I feel like I can grasp things easier. Shorter school days would allow students to do things they enjoy or work more hours.

I dont think that the school days should be shorter becaue it would make the school year longer and nobody wants that. I think that it would be harder for the teachers to get everything in and be done with the lessons for the year.

I would be really nice if the school day was shortened but it isn't very practical. It would only make our school year longer. Teachers already have a hard time getting in a lesson during a class period. If they were even shorter then what they are now, they would really struggle.
I don't think that school days should be shortened. We still need time at school to learn something and do our homework. With a shortened day, it think it would also be more difficult for teachers to do more projects etc, because they don't have so much time anymore.
