Should companies use machines over people?

Robotic Machines have been around since 1948, when the first robot was invented by William Grey Walter. The first ever robot to function properly was the Unimate. General Motors installed the first robotic machine to work in their factory in 1961. This robot's designed job was to move hot pieces of metal. This took many people out of work due to the fact that the machines could do the dangerous and hard jobs with no injury.

Since the first robot was invented and placed in a work environment 14% of workers say that their jobs have been replaced by a robot since 2021. In 2022 the automation of America lost over 75 million jobs. This is because Automation created 133 million jobs by the beginning of 2022.  By 2025 the estimated number of jobs controlled by machines will reach tp 97 million.

These machines  have caused many problems with workers. The workers feel like they are taking more jobs away from the people. Others think that this will be a more effective way to run companies. Some advantages to machines are they increase efficiency and productivity. They reduce error, reduce risk rates, and improve safety for employees in high risk or dangerous work environments. Robots also improve organization and are cost effective for the workplace. This is because they will not need to take lunch breaks, holidays, sick leave or changing shift times.

Although some people like these robotic machienes others would disagree. These machines have caused many job losses or potential job losses in the future. These machines  can also cause high cost of implementation, thinking and doing something without having to be programmed. Robots can also be at risk of cyber problems and data protection. These machines are connected to the whole environment causing hackers to better be able to hack into important information. The Autonomous Robots also take time to charge and move slower and can have machine errors.

In my opinion I do not think that These robots  or any type of autonomous Machines should be part of our society. They take jobs away from the people and that could cause a lot of problems such as unemployment.

Do you think we should replace human workers with Machines?

Do you think that by 2030 there will be Machines/Robots running everything?

  • I think that we should not replace workers with machines, because the unemployment rate is already so slow that it makes no sense to shorten it even more. I think that there will be machines helping humans with certain things, but i also think that theres no way the machines will run everything.

    • I agree and if this keeps on happening the unemployment rate will increase by a lot.

  • I think that replacing factory workers with robotic machines is honestly not a good idea. I think this because at anytime while the robots are working they could suddenly malfunction, causing a problem for the rest of the workers/robots. I also think that it is extremely unfair to the workers that have had a job for a long time to suddenly get fired, because of their position being taken over by a robot. Lastly, I think that by 2030 at least 50% of the factories around the world will be almost completely run by robots. I think that because in today's world, rich people can be very greedy and they want the money all to themselves, or as much as they can have before it's unfair for the workers. So they will hire robots to take over so they don’t have to pay as many people and they will have more money for themselves.

  • I believe that companies should use people over machines most of the time. I think that when people make them it is a better quality and when machines make them the object is made faster. I believe that by 2030, but more by 2040, machines will take most of those jobs away from people.

    • I agree that in some jobs the machines will do it more accurate and faster.

  • I think certain jobs like manufacturing, construction, and stores should be left to robots. Jobs that include human life like medical centers, therapy and school should be jobs that humans do because teaching a person to do these complex jobs would be easier and cheaper than making and programing a robot to do it.

    • I agree that jobs that have feelings or physical teaching in it should be run by humans.

  • I think certain jobs should be replaced by machines. However, some jobs machines of this age can not do. Even if we switch to all machined jobs, every company would need a couple of maintanence workers as all machines break down now and then. I don't think that machines will run everythink by 2030, as technology is a slow advancing skill of humans.

    • I agree because the machines would most likely not be able to fix bigger problems without being programed.

  • I feel that some jobs that are dangerous should have machines as workers because if someone at work gets hurt they could be out of a job for a long time. I also feel that not all jobs should be run by machines. How would people pay their bills or get money for food? A lot of people would be laid off of work with nothing to do.
