School safety has been around for a long time. Its started to become more safe in the 1990s due to crime being at an all time high. The education system of the states have been trackng and analyzing school safety for the last two decades. Due to crime at the time there was a lot of urgency among the policymakers both at federal and state levels. They wanted to be sure to make schools a safer place for students and who ever would else be in the school. In 1994 congress passed the gun free school act. Which mandated that any student who brought a weapon to school would be be requiring at least one year explusion. In 1999 some tragic stuff happend including weapons in Columbia. So after that they started passing and updating laws about students behavior, if a student has bad behavior or would bring such weapons to school would get suspended. Also in 1999 they where more strict about practing drills and making sure students new what to do in case anything would happen. They had make a bunch of new laws about school safety and made sure its what the United states and the world needs to keep danger out of the school. In recent years they have focused more on a zero tolerance act. They wanted to be sure to have all and everything safe for students and teachers to come to school. It showed that school sa1fety is inportant and is worth spending time and money on practicing on it. I beleive that school safety is needed and is right to have. It shows that each year in the United States there is over 35 school shooting a year. There was over 50 school invations all over the United States. Most schools have uped there security and safety over the last decade due to how much crime and bad things that happen schools a year.
