Imagine when you where young and went out to recess that you could not touch the snow for saftey reasons. Well children at Jo Richardson Community School in Dagenham, East London are not allowed to even touch the snow when they go outside during school. The school staff is scared that if the children start touching the snow that they will end up making snow balls and throw them at each other, I guess the teachers think that they can get hurt which is true but the snow would have to be really hard. Smith the superintendent of the Birtish school said"One mistake from a child that gets hurt will change the entire school. Also Smith complained that snow made kids wet and that was unfit for school, but I call that junk because kids are called kids for a reason they are young and they can have a little fun. But Smith said that he was protecting his school from a lawsuit, but I am guessing that is a lie. It just really dosnt make sense why someone would file a lawsuit for kids going on the snow. If they really wanted the kids not to go on the snow then why would you even take them outside for recess.

Q1-How would you feel if you where still young and when you went out for recess that you could not touch the snow during the winter?

I would have been very upset because that was recess is for, and when we where young we liked to have fun in the snow such as build tunnels, snowballs and all other sorts of items to play with.

Q2-If you where the superindendent of the school what would you end up doing if someone filed a lawsuit on you school for letting your kids play on the snow?

If I where the superindendent of a school I would try to keep letting the kids go outside and play in the school but if I could not I would try and treat the kids a little bit because it is not fair to them.

  • Well done!

  • I would be mad if I wasn't able to touch the snow when I went out for recess because it can be really fun to play in. If I were superintendent of a school and there was a lawsuit then I would probably be a little surprised because it's just snow.

  • I think it would be extremely annoying if I was a kid and couldn't play in the snow considering it was a huge part of my childhood and gives kids a lot of fun and great experiences.

  • I think that if I was a kid at recess and wasn't able to touch the snow, I would probably be a little mad because that would be the only reason I would want to go outside for recess during the winter. If I was the superintendent of a school and someone filed a lawsuit for kids playing in the snow during recess, I would not even worry about it and would just talk to the person filing the lawsuit.

  • I believe that this is very wrong. Most kids love to play in the snow and that is the fun of going out for recess in the winter. It keeps them entertained and it shouldn't be the schools decision whether these kids should be touching this snow.

  • If I couldn't touch the snow at recess, I probably wouldn't care because I hate snow with a passion. It is really cold. I think that it is dumb though that they can't. Snow is a natural thing....I mean, I guess if a snow fort collapsed on a kid, that would be bad, but other than that, it shoudln't be a problem.

  • I think that this is unfair for the children and is too overprotective of the schools. Kids are supposed to run around and enjoy themselves, and restricting them from snow, which they are allowed to play with at home, would just make them hate school. If I couldn't play in the snow I would be very angry. If someone filed a lawsuit against kids playing in the snow, I would try to let kids keep playing. It's a dumb lawsuit.

  • That would really hurt me if I went outside and I couldn't touch the snow because that is really fun to do. I would be very angry because that is just stupid to file a lawsuit about, but I guess I would just have them play in the gym or something like that.

  • I would feel really sad because that's just what you did in the winter with all your friends. If he was sued for an injury due to snow (which is very unlikely) then the school board would take care of representing him.

  • I would be very angry youre not gonna get hurt from the snow or even a snowball. Maybe if the ball was made of ice. I would not want to go to recess if we couldnt even play in the snow because whats the point of recess then. I would want the kid to have funa nd be kids what person wants to keep their children from having fun in snow.
