You never know why someone is doing something or what is going on in their head and what making them think that and commit that action.

I think that they're some bad people out there that dislike the idea of a cop doing their job, and are stupid and cruel enough to kill because if it.
I think it is kind of like asking why someone would commit a terrorist attack. You can never really know why someone would do something like this. It could have been done just for the thrill of shooting a state trooper or it could have been just done because they have a thing against state troopers or hold something against the police force. You really can't know for sure.
They might have had something against these state troopers, or did it for attention, or no reason at all. Stuff like this has happened where the crime is done for no reason.
