Payne in Pain

As some of you know, Adreian Payne, a basketball player from Michigan State, had a very special fan. Her name is Lacey Holsworth. They had a  relationship just like Jack Hoffman and Rex Burkhead, football player from Nebraska. Lacey was fighting a rare form of cancer, neuroblastoma, which sadly she lost the battle. She died early Wednesday morning. Her tumor was the size of a football. It was around her kidney and she had another one on her spine, and with that, it left her paralyzed. She was fighting this cancer for 3 years. Lacey went to almost every game that Payne was in, including the dunk contest. Payne plans to leave Michigan State and go into the NBA draft after his junior year. Her passing with have a major impact on the team.

This is so sad! She was like a person of the team. I wish her family and Michigan State's basketball team all the best.

Do you think people should find out more about her cancer? Why do you think they had such a good relationship? Do you think their relationship was just for publicity or not?

    I dont think that the relationship was for publicity. The little girl was a fan. Payne wanted to let her know that he was there for her and that he was a friend, and that she would be okay.

    I think this was a very true friendship, and it was not for the publicity. I hope that both the child's family and Payne are able to overcome the loss of such a wonderful person, and I hope awareness is raised for this type of cancer.

    I think that people should find out more about her cancer type and maybe more people can live from it. Probaly because he felt sad for her i think it was not for publicity

    This relationship was definitely not for publicity. Payne saw this little girl, had compassion on her, and brought her,and himself a lot of happiness through this

    I highly doubt it was for publicity. You can tell in the picture that both of them look extremely happy! I think this is a very special story and he will always be thinking of her when he is playing.

    This story is a great story. He made that girl very happy before she died.
