Parkland Students trying to make a difference.

Some of the students that survived the Parkland shooting in Florida have come together to try and make a differnce. They are on their way to the State capitol to talk to law makers. The students want to see change in  gun control laws, they want stricter background checks on people. They are also pushing for health care for people suffering a mental illness. They have also orginized the March 14th walk out. That is where at 10 o'clock  students will walk and stand outside for 17 minutes, a minute for each victim of the mass shooting. They have also orginized rallys to voice their opion about the situation.

Would you go with the Students to talk to law makers about change?

If you were a student at Parkland and experienced this traumatic event, what would you do to try and make a differnce?

  • In my personal experience my best friend lives in florida and hi is going to those protest and if I was there I would also go because I think is important that this situation change and the only way to do it is if the government see a lot of people in the protest.

If I were a estudent I would probably try to talk with the group and start doing this protest to support more gun control and also try to get more health care for people who are suffering a mental illness.Because this are the reasons that this attacks are happening in my opinion.

  • If I had the opportunity, I would definitely go to the capitol with the students because I think there needs to be a change to these gun laws. There is no doubt in my mind that if I was put through that trauma that I would do everything in my power to make a difference.

  • I probably would go with the students to get stricter gun laws. I am not against people owning firearms. It is when people own stupid amounts of guns and high powered rifles when it becomes a problem. You never know when or what somebody might do with that much firepower. Stricter background checks would also be a great thing because we don't want criminals getting weapons.

  • I would go to support my fellow, grieving classmates. I don't really know what my stance is on the whole gun control thing...There probably needs to be more backround checks on people before they are allowed to take a gun home, but even then, how do you truly know what someone is going to do? I think standing outside for 17 minutes in honor of those who have died is very thoughtful and beautiful. After experiencing something so tramautic, I would do everything in my power to make our school safer.

  • I would probably go. I would not want anything to be misinterpreted or anything so I would be careful with what I'm saying. I think it is good that they are trying to do something. I would be so shaken. I would definately go with the group and speak out and keep families and friends in my prayers.

  • I understand what happned isnt a good thing but its not the gun that killed all thoes people. Background check to purches guns takes longer then you think it does last fall my dad and i went to cabelas to get two new semi auto shotguns for christmas presents it took us twenty minuets to pick a gun and het what we wanted for them. But then after that there was a almost 200 question "test" to see what you are doing with the gun why you bought it and your intentions with it. We were there for three hours answering questions and signing papers. The guns arent the problem its the mental illnesses. this shooting and the sandy school shooting both had one thing in common. The shooter had a mental illness's. we need to help people with mental illnesses so that stuff like this dosent happen.

  • 1.If I were a high school student I would go to protest march against violence, but I'm not, so I prefer to stay out of the way. moreover, I think that it does not matter how many protest march we can do, the weapons will continue to be in the United States.

2.I do not know, I don't think that a student can do something about it, in my opinion the only thing that they can do is show respect to the families victims and don't use guns.

  • Yes, I would go with them. Especially after events like this one, the government should understand that it is necessary to make some chnges in law. For that reason, I would go with the students because it's always better to be in a bigger group.

I think I would join the group they built and go to the law makers.

  • I wouln't mind going with the students for support, but I don't think I would speak in front of everybody because everything that is said in the public occasion would and could be held against them. So one wrong word could cause a huge problem. I'm not sure what I would do. I think everyone in the school would have so many ideas and finding one that you are most comfortable with would be the way to go.
