Mom Won't Separate Conjoined Twins

Garrett and Andrew were conjoined twins born on April 10th. Their mother says that they were born together, they can stay together. The twins are conjoined from the breastbone down to the waist meaning they have separate heads. They share a heart and a liver and so said a unbreakable bond. The parents say that the twins will obviously, being babies, sometimes poke each other in the eye, or grab one another's face.Separating the twins could possibly mean loosing one and the parents couldn't live with that. What would you do if your twins were conjoined? Would you keep them together or would you separate them?

  • This is a very hard position to be in. Wouldn't you have to keep them together if they share a heart? I wouldn't want one of them to die.

  • I think that if the mom does not want to risk it than its her choice and she can decide no to. I the kids want to get separated when they are older than that's their choice and she should support their choice.

  • I think that it would be a very difficult situation to be in as a mother. If it were up to me, I would probably keep them together unless there wasn't a chance one would die.

  • I would have them separated so they could lead their own lifes and not have to always be together.

  • I have no clue what I would do. I would hate to take the chance of loosing one of them but life would be so difficult for them.

  • I think it depends on how risky the situation is... if you could loose one of them then i wouldnt do it. But if they could both live then i would choose to have them be seperated. Life you be hard.

  • gosh that would be a tough choice but i think you would have to take the chance for the best quality of life of the kids but it would be hard to live with your decision if something went wrong

  • i would be scared because there is more precautions with having conjoined twins. I would keep them together just to be easier or else it would be a hassle to make sure nothing bad comes their way.

  • If i had conjoined twins it would depend on how they were conjoined. If they were as conjoined as these two are I don't think I would try to separate them since they share a heart.

  • Its the moms choice she needs to do whats best for her kids.
