Maid's Arm Cut Off By Employer

An Indian worker complained to the police that her employer was mistreating her. The Saudi employer found out about what her maid had done and decided to do something about it. The employer actually cut off the 58 year old's arm. The maid was not getting paid or enough food which is what led her to the police.

The Indian government did complain to Saudi Arabia about this incident. India is also trying to charge the employer with attempted murder. The Saudi ambassador refuses to talk about the incident over the phone and told CNN to request an appointment. CNN is still waiting for a response on their request. 

I think what this employer did was horrible. The maid probably works as hard as she can every day to help this lady out. There was absolutely no reason to do this to her.

  • yes they should they can not get away with cutting off her arm just for someone saying they were being mistreated... everyone should have the right to go to the police with any problem they have, she might have got this solved if she did it a little earlier 

  • She should definitely be punish. There is no reason anyone at all should go cut someones arm off. If the employer thought that maid wasn't working hard enough then she should fire her. The maid has every right to complain to the police about how she was being treated. She couldn't just let something like that go. 

    • Yes, and maybe it was a good thing she complained now (Except for the getting her arm cut off part), but there is a possibility if she would have stayed longer that the employer may have done something worse to her. 

  • I think he should be punished for what he did, the maid did not deserve what happened to her. I definitely think she had a right to complain to the police about the situation. It's her right, if she feels threatened, then she should.

  • Of course the employer should be punished. He infringed on someone else's rights in a way that's going to change the way they live life forever. 

     

    She shouldn't have complained to the police because she's in a lawless country where anything goes. She should have just moved.

    • The employer should definitely be paying and feeding her right, I agree with that. The maid is putting in all this time and hard work for her employer and she complains once and gets her arm cut off... what has this world come to??

  • If anyone can come up with an actual reason for the employer not to be punished I will be very surprised. She punished her maid for complaining about something that was completely reasonable, and she didn't just fire the maid or reduce her pay even more; she just decided to cut the maid's arm off. There is absolutely no reason not to punish the Saudi employer.

    • Agree with everything you said here, not mad or mad, cutting off somebody's arm because they complained, absolutely horrible. 

  • I think the employer should definitely get punished because first off, she wasn't paying her maid enough and not feeding her enough which is a crime in itself. She then decided that the best thing to do was cut her maid's arm off? She needs to be punished severely.
