London to Sydney is a World Record Flight

Story:

On Friday, November 15th, a world record flight landed in Sydney, Australia. This was a non-stop flight from London, England to Sydney Australia. Throughout this filght, two world records were destroyed. The flight lasted 19 hours and 19 minutes. The plane flew 11,060 miles, making flight QF7879 the longest passenger flight recorded in history. Now that this has happened, professionals are seeing this as a way to create "Long-Haul Flights." These would be extra-long flights from Australia to the United States and Europe. There were 50 people on-board. The flight left early Thursday morning, and 19 hours later, ended up on the east-coast of Australia. On this flight, people saw a very rare "double sunrise." Qantas hopes to put this in their schedule by 2022 or 2023. However, they would need a crew that would be able to last that long up in the air. They would want to call this, "Project Sunrise."

Questions:

1.) If you had the chance, would you participate in "Project Sunrise"?

In my opinion, flying isn't my favorite. I would love flying if it didn't involve turbulence. I do think that this would be really cool to be a part of though. I think that I would reall want to feel what it is like to be on a plane for 19 hours. I would also really want to see the Double Sunrise.

2.) Do you think that you could last 19 hours on the flight (as a crew member)?

FIrst off, I would never ever be a pilot. I do think that I would want to be part of the crew, as a flight attendent. I think that I would be able to last. I think that this would involve going to be really early the day before and a lot of water. I do think that it would be really cool to participate in this.

  • Great job Miitchell! Very well organized and well done summary!

  • I probably would, I think it Is cool and would be a fun experiment to participate in and oer all a fun flying experience.I think I could last on the planebecause of prior ecperiences I have had and i think it would be good.

  • 1. No I would not. My head and heart belong under the sea not in the clouds.

    2. Definelty NOT. I can barely stand jumping off the high dive at our public swimming pool. There is absolutely NO WAY I could make it through 19 hours of flying.

    • Yes, I can agree. This is mostly based on your personal opinion, but you wouldn't even try it?? I think that even though I liek the sea, I would still at least try this. I do agree that making it through 19 hours would be tough, but I think that I would still do it.

  • I've never flown on a plane before so for my first time to be 19 hours and 19 minutes non stop I would probably have to say no. Maybe as a crew member beause I know I would be getting paid for it. But otherwise I wouldn't want to participate in something like this.

    • Yes, I do agree that this would probably not be the best flight to start this. I think that once you flew a few times, you would be able to get used to it and you probably wouldn't mid the flight. I also do agree that I would probably on do it if I was getting paid for the job.

  • Personally, I would possibly participate in "Project Sunrise" after many others have successfully completed the same flight. I wouldnt' want to be one of the first to do it because there could be complications and kinks that need worked out. A 19 hour flight would be exhausting and a great challenge, but I think I could do it with the proper preparation.

    • I also do agree. I believe that it would be somewhat weird to do this as first, but I think it would be cool since you are making history. I also think that a 19 hour flight would be a great challenge. I also do believe that anyone would be able to do it with the right preparation.

  • I would not participate in this because I personally, get sick on planes, and do not enjoy them. I do like being above and seeing the beauty of the earth, but I cannot last on a plane longer than about 3 hours. I could never last 19 hours on a flight unless I was in love with flying and being in a plane. I would get bored and would probably sleep much more than I should.

    • Wow, this seems legit. I do believe that this is possible and I think that this would suck. I also do agree that flying isn't the greatest. I think that being above the coulds is cool, but I really just don't enjoy flying. I also agree that being on a plane for this long would suck.
