Is a vegan diet really healthy?

So what does being a vegan really mean? Veganism is defined as “the practice of abstaining from the use and consumption of animals or animal products.” But the controversial question is, is being vegan really healthy, or is it just a recent movement and “trend”?

A vegan diet can cause those to lose nutrients such as vitamin B12, creatine, carnosine, vitamin D3 and many more. Although there are supplements and vitamins for those eating a vegan diet, there are some nutrients you simply can’t get from plants. Some also say that veganism can lead to poor dietary choices. The thought of this diet can also cause unrealistic expectations for some.

Many people convert to a vegan diet for ethical or environmental concerns. For some, it also offers a “healthier lifestyle”. There have not been many studies of those on a vegan diet, but those who are vegan believe it is a healthier way to live. There are also many different types of vegan diets. Some vegans use supplements and vitamins to get those missing nutrients in their diet. As veganism is growing, there are becoming more plant alternatives, which can include those nutrients.

I believe that a vegan diet can be healthy if done correctly. If not done correctly, I think it can be damaging and leave a bad reputation for veganism. I  would never do a vegan diet, as my family eats a lot of beef, chicken, and pork along with using a large amount of animal products.

Do you think veganism is healthy?

Would you ever try a vegan diet?

What are your thoughts on veganism?

  • I don't believe that vegan diets are healthy; animal meats provide many nutrients your body needs. Supplements and vitamins can't give you all the nutrients you need. I would personally never try a vegan diet. I believe a vegan diet is not suitable for the human body.

  • In my opinion, veganism is not healthy, how can it be healthy if you are not getting all the nutrients from meat that you need? Yes, there are substitutes for the proteins and nutrients that you could be lack from curing out most things but it would never fully be the same as meat.

    • I agree that with a vegan diet you can lack a lot of nutrients if not done correctly.

  • I do not belive that vegan diets are healthy, the way to make it healthy is how you make it. Vegan foods are not healthy for example how are you supposed to get your protein to become heathly. You need to have protein in your body to be healthy.

    • I agree that most vegan foods are missing a lot of important nutrients. Even with supplements, it's not the same as the real thing.

  • I do not think that vegan diets are really that healthy. You have to get protein and all your nutrients and make yourself healthy. I would never try a vegan diet. I think that veganism is weird but if some people can only eat vegan items that is fine. If everyone was vegan no animal would serve a purpose.

  • I think that being a vegan has its healthy aspects and its non-healthy aspects. It can be healthy by erasing all the unhealthy foods that they want to avoid. But, it can be unhealthy because meat is a great way to get protein and nutrients. I don't think I would be able to do a vegan diet.

  • I think its healthy, however I personally wouldnt become vegan. If veganism wasnt healthy I think less people would do it but now its a lot more common to be vegan. There are other things they eat that still have the proteins they need, maybe less proteins, but they still get them and would just need to maybe eat more of it. Also, for those viatamins they may be missing there are vitamin gummies and such they could get if they think they arent getting enough.

  • I think that a vegan diet is not good for the human body. They are not getting all of their nutrients that they can get out of from meet. Although, you can still get some proteins through other foods. Me personally I would not try a vegan diet. I think being a vegan is not healthy and that people should not do.

    • I agree because some substitutes just don't have the nutrients that meat does.
