Gold Coin Stolen

A 220- pound gold coin named "Big Maple Leaf" was stolen from a museum in Berlin. The coin has a face value worth 1 million Canadian Dollars (750,000 US Dollars). With how much the coin weighs, it would be worth almost 4.5 million dollars at market prices. The coin is in the Guinness Book of Records for its unmatched purity of 999.99/1000 gold. The coin has a bunch of Maple Leafs on one side and a portrait of Queen Elizabeth the second on the other. The coin was issued by the Royal Canadian Mint in 2007. The police think that the thieves broke open a window on the back side of the museum next to the railroad tracks. The museum has on of the largest coin collections in the world with more the 540,000 coins.

Questions:

What would you do if you operated the Museum?

Why do you think the people stole the coin?

If i operated the museum and came to work and saw that the coin was stolen i would immediately call the cops and then i would start looking around to see were the thieves would have came in and check the cameras that were around the coin if there were any.

I don't know why the thieves stole the coin but they probably want to sell the coin so they can be rich and have money for themselves.

  • I would be very upset because such a rare expensive piece of history was taken illegally. I think they stole it to sell on the black market for cold hard cash. If they get away with it they are gonna have some nice spending money.

  • If I operated the museum, I would be very mad to see that the coin had been stolen. I would probably call 911 and look at the security cameras to see if I can make out who stole the coin. The people most likely stole the coin to sell it and so they can make a lot of money.

  • I would be upset if this happened. Museums are supposed to keep items safe. However, if I operated the museum, I would call 911 and check security cameras. I would install better security for the future. I think the people stole the coin to sell it for a big profit.

  • be way more uptight with security. knowing they had a coin that big they should have done that already. because humans are greedy and think of themselfs a lot. or they needed the money to pay a bill or something.

  • If i operated the museum, I would be furious that an artifact was stolen, and call the police. I think the people stole the coin just for a get rich quick scheme, and have a whole bunch of money and be basically set for life.

  • If I was operating the museum I would call the police first off and report anything I saw/heard to my boss. I think they stole the coin for money and possibly the fame which they will get plenty of even if they are arrested later.

  • If i worked at the Museum, I would report to police that it was missing. I would also go to the head, and tell him, so we could watch security footage, and see how and when it was stolen. I think that they wanted fame for doing this, or they wanted to have the museum pay for it back so that they got a lot of money.

    • I would do the exact same things but you would think that they had to have an alarm by the coin in case someone tried stealing it

  • If I operated the museum and saw that the coin was gone, I would call the police and check the security cameras. I would also talk to the security guards to see if they knew anything about this. I think that the thieves stole the coin so they could keep it for themselves or sell it for a high price to get lots of money off of it.
