A Georgia father is arguing that he should be able to bring a gun on campus of Beulah Elementary School if he wants to do so. The principle at his daughters school told him he is not allowed to bring a gun to school unless he is dropping off his daughter or picking her up. The lawsuit says that Mr. Myers, the father of the daughter goes to a lot of his daughter school activities and wants to bring his gun with him.  With the new law it says you are able to bring a gun if the school board allows you to do so. I personally think that you should not be able to because you don't know what is going on in there life. I see no point in bringing a gun to school for activities and If was the principle.

If you were the principle or on the school board would you parents bring guns to school if they wish to do so?

  • Interesting story and well done! There are few typo and be sure to capitalize the words in the title.

  • I think that it's a big no to bring guns even close to the school. Over the years they have severely pushed that people don't bring weapons to school or even near it. The father shouldn't be able to bring a gun because people will feel very uneasy about it even though it's just for safety issues.

    • Ya and you never know if someone is unstable.

  • I believe that gun Laws are very important. But bringing a gun into school areas is not safe just because someone has a permit to carry. I believe that only active officers of the law should be able to carry weapons. Or an even better idea just get a security officer in all schools.

    • I agree! Only police should be able to.

  • If I were the principle I would not allow anybody to bring a weapon to a school event.  It is unsafe and puts everybody there in danger that is at the event.

  • If they had a valid concealed carry license, I would. After all, they were deemed okay to carry firearms by the police department on your county, you should be allowed to do just what the license allows you to do. Concealed Carry. In my personal opinion, I would prefer a shotgun under the desk of my teachers to a few flimsy locked doors and a bunch of large glass windows that will hardly slow down anyone. If they are deemed okay to teach us and to protect if that becomes an issue, they shouldn't have to resort to throwing books and cans of chicken soup to try and stop a threat.

    • what if a student comes in that shouldn't be having a gun?  Maybe there depressed or unstable you never know.

      • I must have missed the part where people younger than 21 were allowed to conceal carry. (Minimum age to buy a handgun is 21 years of age) This isn't about the students, it is about the parents. A mother or father, or anyone who is older than 21 and has a concealed carry permit, as they have been allowed by the law to purchase a firearm, and have been permitted by the police department to carry said firearm.

Besides, if I remember correctly, your question was "If you were the principle or on the school board would you parents bring guns to school if they wish to do so?" Not about the students, your post was about the parents.

        • I know that was the question. I was just saying you never know if someone should of should not be carrying that gun you never know if something is going on with someones life.
