First Ebola Patient in New York

Craig Spence is the first person from New York City, (hopefully the last) Spencer was in Africa treating ebola patients, and returned last week. He was diagnosed with ebola on Thursday and was immediately quarantined in Bellevue hospital in New York City. Nancy Writebol is the first ebola survivor, Spencer received a blood transplant from Writebol, There have been 3 other ebola survivors so far, all three have donated blood which is being used to treat the disease in Aftica. As of Saturday Spencer is having diarrhea, but they hope that will begin to change. Spencer's wife is also under quarantined.

What are your thoughts on how Ebola is being handled so far in the world? If you were in Craig Spencer's position what would you be thinking about your treatment? Do you think it will work?

  • Good job but your first sentence could be written better.

  • I think they are handling it well however I feel they are becoming extreme. Being in Spencer's position, I would hope I'm under proper care
  • I fell it is being dealt with fairly well. Everyone is being quarantined right away and more people are starting to survive from it. I would be nervous but have faith in the doctors as they learn more with each treatment.

  • Hopefully the treatement will work, but they should be more careful about who they are letting in our country, or whether they have traveled in a country that has ebola.

    • I hope so too, if it does then there won't be as much to worry about.

  • I think that it is being handled really bad in other countries because they have no way of getting the equipment that they need like we can. Of course I would be thinking about my treatment if i was that guy because I would want it to be done right, even though they don't know what exactly right is.

  • If I was him I would want to be treated quick and hope i survive. I think they could do a better job on knowing if they came back from Africa.

    • I agree, the sooner he gets treated the better.

  • If i was Spencer i would want anything to get me better asap, i think that they are doing there best right now, but i think they could speed up the process but i understand they are under lots of pressure at the time.

  • I feel like they could do a better job, if they know that a person came from a place with Ebola they could go under more questioning just to make sure they don't have Ebola. I know if I got infected I would be worried about myself but also about infecting others.
