Dozens Injured After Truck Rams Mardi Gras Crowd

On Saturday night in New Orleans for the annual Mardi Gras parade there was a 25 year old man who drove into a crowd of people injuring 28. None of the victims were injured enough to kill them, but many are still receiving care. The 25 year old man is thought to have been driving under the influence. He has also since been charged two counts of first-degree vehicular negligence resulting in injury, and one count each of reckless operation and hit-and-run driving. Police say that there is no evidence to say that this was terroristic in any way.

  • Good job overall but your didn't include your opinions within your summary and all of your comments were done on the same day and not three different days. -5 late

  • Once again, alcohol does something stupid. I really think that if you are going to drink, other people should be allowed to stop you from driving. And if you do see someone who is visibly drunk, stop them. It's not worth killing someone or injuring 28...Everything in moderation goes a long way.

  • I think that this happened because he was under the influence and that he should be in jail for a long time.

  • I feel like this probably happen because he was under the influence and didn't have complete control on his actions. I think he needs to be accused and put in jail because people like him just ended other peoples life just so he could drink! He should be in jail for the rest of his life cause as people say one choice can change your life for the good or for the bad!

  • I think being under the influence had to have been a factor, he probably didn't know what he was doing. A time in jail for this would be good because he should have been more responsible with his actions and there needs to be some what a big consequence.

  • I feel like because it was such a public event it was most likely on purpose and a statement. Yes he could have been under influence but I feel that if your behind the wheel of a car driving under influence that's the first charge. Killing would be the second and after hit and run that is another charge. I feel he should be in jail for a very long time.

  • I think that he purposely did it because he didn't like the way they were celebrating. I think that he should at least go to jail for more then a couple months close to a year.

  • He could have done this due to drugs or just was crazy. He should be put in jail for attempted murder and possibly driving under influence.

  • The man could very well be under the influence but I don't think that alcohol could get you to do that kind of action. Well, he was driving recklessly but he didn't kill anyone so he can't be charged with murder or man slaughter. I don't know what the punishment should be.

  • I bet they did this as an act of hate instead of being under the influence because i don't think many people that drink want to just go out and ram a truck into a crowd. i believe this person should face very big charges and should be sent to jail for at least 5 years if not more.
