Dog Food Recall Due to Euthanasia Drug

In Iowa there isn't a real concern about this dog food recall. If you live in California though, there is a serious concern. Coco Licious, a small dog food based company if California is recalling their dog food due to some cans coming back testing positive for pentobarbital. Pentobarbital is serious because this is a drug that is used to euthanize dogs (put them down). Right now there is no confirmed deaths to any pets, but if smaller dogs do eat this dog food there is enough pentobarbital for them to die.

1) If you regularly bought this dog food, would you continue buying or switch dog food brands? Why or why not?

2) What kind of compensation should people get that buy this product?

I would not continue to buy this because obviously this dog food brand isn't serious about the safety of the pets of the owners they sell to.

I think everyone that buys this needs to get their money back and if their dog gets sick they should sue.

  • I would switch dog foods because I would want food that won't kill or make my dog sick. For all the people that have bought the food should get money back or something in replace of the dog food.

    • I agree with you i would switch brands immediately so my dog doesnt get sick or die. I also agree that they need to get their money back for buying this

  • 1. I would definitely buy a different brand right away. I wouldn't want my dog to get sick and die.
    2. I think that people should be able to get money back. I also believe that if the dog does get sick or die that they get some sort of deal out of a sue.

    • I agree i would buy a new dog food to protect my pet so they dont get sick and die

I agree that if someones pet ends up dying they should sue or at least try

  • I would automatically switch my dog's food and take him/her straight to the vet to make sure they were okay. I would NOT continue buying the same brand. I think that people need to get their money back. Unfortunately, if any animals do die, the company won't be able to provide any emotional compensation for the devastated pet owners, and they will have to live with that.

    • I agree with you, I didnt think about taking the dog to the vet. That is a good idea. I also agree that i would not buy that dog food brand anymore

  • I would switch brands. I wouldn't want to put my pet in danger. If dogs die because of this, the company is going to have a lawsuit. You can't really compensate for the loss of a life, so there's nothing they could do to make it better.

    • I would also switch brands so that my pet wasn't in danger anymore. I agree that if any dog does unfortunately die there needs to be something done about it

  • I would switch dog food brands as quickly as I could because I wouldn't want to know that I was responsible for the death of my dog. I think that if people bought this product then they should get the money back that they spent on the recalled batch of dog food.

    • I agree i wouldnt want to be the cause of my dog dying just from trying to feed them. I agree that the recalled dog food they should get some compensation
