Be at child's birth or win $11M?

Billy Horschel has chosen to stay at work and skip his child's birth for 11 million dollars. For him to win it, he has to top the PGA Tour's FedEx Cup playoff series by winning the $1.44 million Tour Championship finale in Atlanta. He said when he brought this up to his wife right away she said, "you're staying." Billy won last week's BMW Championship and was joint runner-up in the second of the four playoff events. His hopes are high that he can earn his family's financial future this weekend. He told his wife he does not want to know if she goes into labor until after he is finished with his round. Then he will go in his private jet to visit.

What would you do if you were in Billy's situation? If you won what would you do with all the money?

  • Good story and well done!!

  • I do not think you should miss your child's birth, but if you do not have much money maybe it would be good to go get the money instead so you can provide things for your family. I would save the money for things I need.

  • If I was going to miss the birth of my child, that would be disappointing, but the money can be very helpful, but seeing your offspring the moment he is born is a little more important than winning that money.

  • If I was him i would not want to miss the birth of my child. I would use to build a new home and for my family.

  • I would not want to miss the birth of my child. But if I was a women I wouldn't have a choice, but I hope the father of my child wouldn't want to miss it. If I had that money I would build my home.

    • I would do that with the money too.

  • If i was him i probably would have gone and got the 11 million dollars, and then used it to pay for the kids college and school funds.

    • Yes I would do that too. He can use it if he has another child as well.

  • If I were in his situation, I would do what any good husband and father would do, listen to the wife. Disobeying is a very bad idea, especially when $11 million dollars are on the line. She told him to stay at his work, so if she doesn't mind him not being there then there is nothing wrong with what he did. He is going to have to deal with the kid for the next two decades anyways.

    • That is kinda mean but true.
