Abortion Pill Legalization

Abortions are the #1 controversial topic to exist! What is an abortion? An abortion by definition is “the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy”, in other words, ending an infant's life in the tummy before they are born. According to guttmacher.com, abortion pills accounted for over 54% of all abortions in the United States. This pill is now being taken to court. Should this pill stay legal for all states, or shall the banning of this pill begin now?

Why do people execute abortions? There are many reasons that women state why they want or have an abortion. Such as, “too early”, “not ready”, “don’t want a baby”, “can’t care for one”, ect.

How does the pill work? Well actually, this is a two-step process. First, the woman will take a pill called Mifepristone. This pill will initially stop the pregnancy from progressing. This may cause a woman to feel nauseous or start bleeding from their uterus. The second pill is called Misopristol. Up to 48 hours after taking Mifepristone, the female will take Misoprostol. This pill will “in simple terms” kill the sex cells that are creating the baby. This pill will cause extreme cramps for the female as well as a lot of blood rushing out from the uterus. This process is very similar to a miscarriage when taking these pills. Still confused? Think of it as a forced miscarriage.

Why is the potential banning of the abortion pill such a big deal? Mifepristone (the abortion pill) is responsible for over half of all abortions. Because of how big this pill is to abortions, this is huge for both Democrats and Republicans. Democrats are usually for “pro-choice”, whereas Republicans are usually for “pro-life”. What does that mean? If you are pro-choice, that means that you believe that women should be able to make their own decisions on what they do with their body and want abortions to be legal. If you are pro-life, you believe that abortions should be illegal and vote for the banning of this medicine.

Depending on your political POV, there are many pros and cons to this pill and topic. In my personal religious view, I do not believe in abortions. I think that they should be illegal because I don’t think it is right to end a life, even if it hasn’t even begun. Also meaning, that I think that this pill should be banned by the court. This is a really tough topic to talk about, with many mixed opinions.

*I will try to keep posted on updates with this court case

For right now, the pill will remain legal until further notice.

Do you think that the abortion pill should be legal or illegal? Why?

Would it be easier for the female to just have the baby and put it up for adoption?

Do you think that the government will end up banning this pill?

      • I think that the abortion pill should be banned in all states because I don't support it at all.

  • I think the pill should definitely be illegal. Abortion is murder and people have to live with their choices. People are always looking to adopt kids and abortion is just discusting. I hope it is completely banned.

    • I agree, it would not be a very good feeling knowing that you ended a life before it even started.

  • I think that the pill should be legal, it can save people's lives, if you have a high-risk pregnancy then you should be able to take it or if you were raped then you should be able to but if you just don't want a kid then don't take it but it should be legal for those who need it.

    • If you are taking the pill you are pretty much killing the kid and not saving lives.

      • I agree, though it "could" save the mothers, the solution still involves killing the kid. Which is obviously wrong.

      • yes, you would be "killing" the kid but what if the person who was pregnant was a kid who was raped you can get pregnant a 5th grader could be pregnant are you going prioritize the unborn kid over the kid who already has a life and friends and family?

        • I understand that it could be very hard for someone that was raped. That could be a very long 9 months. However, it is still a potential child's life. Like people always say, "2 wrongs don't make a right". Yes, rape is wrong, but so is abortion, and aborting that child would not help the situation. And even if the woman that was raped can't care for the child because of memories and stuff like that, then they can have an adoption. Choose adoption, not abortion.

          • I can understand that and I see how it could seem like it's wrong but for a child so young the pregnancy would be a high risk and the child would have a high chance of dying look at it this way a child gets pregnant and she dies not only does she die but her baby dies as well 2 lives are lost while on the other hand if she could get an abortion to save her life then that's one less life lost.

            • That's a decent way of puttingi it, however, our technology and skills in today's world is incredible. I think 99% of the time, we would be able to save the baby.
