2 Bodies found near an Indiana Creek.

Questions-

How could this accident have been prevented?

Would you feel comfortable hiking by yourself at that age?

My Answer-

I think the parent/guardian should have stayed with them because being a young teen it probably wasn't the best thing to be out doing this on your own. I would personally not feel comfortable to be hiking with just another friend that may not know much about hiking.

  • Good summary but you only commented  couple of times which is worth 20 points.

  • Well I think maybe they could have had some supervision with them considering they are just teenagers. They should not have been left alone in the middle of nowhere to go hiking by themselves. I honestly wouldn't be comfortable being out in the middle of nowhere at a young age like that. I would be afraid that a multitude of bad things could happen to me.

  • I think that this accident could have been prevented by having an experienced and older elder with them with a weapon for self defense just in case that something bad would happen. I don't think I would mind hiking by myself at that age if I knew the terrain and I had a weapon.

  • I think the adults that dropped them off should have stayed with them and watched them.  I myself wouldn't be comfortable hiking with a friend there are people out in the world you cant really trust.

  • This accident could've been prevented if they would've had an adult with them because they are at a young age they shouldn't be hiking by themselves. If I were that age I most likely would feel comfortable hiking by myself, but I wouldn't do it because of the possibilities that could happen.

  • It could have been prevented by the kids having an adult with them instead of being alone in a remote area that has other people around. I would but I have been an outdoors men for years and know how to hide and navigate the woods if needed.

  • I think that this could have been prevented if the parent/guardian would have stayed with them, especially considering they are only 13 and 14. If I had been hiking in that area for a while and if I knew the land then I would, but if it was completely new then no I wouldn't feel comfortable hiking by myself.

  • Well there 13 and 14 years old and it's a hike by an abandon railroad bridge? Take them to a popular hiking spot if you're going to leave them alone. Don't leave them in some sketchy neighborhood. I think I would be okay if I was with a friend but it would need to be on a hiking trail not by an abandoned railroad track. I hope they find whoever did this and these girls get some justice.

  • I don't think that the girls should have been dropped off there all alone. I can understand that they might have wanted to go alone, but an adult could have at least been in the area in case they needed any help. I would not be fine hiking by myself because I wouldn't want to slip or fall and hurt myself and end up getting in trouble and not having anyone to help me.

  • I don't know how this could have been prevented, maybe if a parent was with them this could have been prevent. I think that the parents should have been with them, i would not have been comfortable hiking, but at the same time i have never really done that before so maybe if the 2 girls knew the trail  then they and there parents would both be comfortable with letting the girls go on  it.
